Great title! And a compelling read ...
Here is a Christian book about marriage that you might just read in one sitting--but one that you're going to think about for quite some time.
If you're not yet married-even a bit fearful because of high divorce rates-here's a book that can powerfully increase your chances of success. The subtitle is: Why Marriage Is All About "Cleaving." Filled with examples from his own life, the author really explains what cleaving means, how it is vital to lasting relationships, and how to make it a reality in your situation.
If you're already married-but want to strengthen what you have--there are powerful things to learn here: realistic, relational principles that you and your spouse can live out. Here's an example: three questions you can use to guide your thoughts and keep you on track:
l. Is what I'm doing best for my spouse?
2. Is what I'm doing best for our marriage?
3. Is what I'm doing best for me?
'The rule states that you must say "yes" to all three questions, in the same order, if you want to proceed with what you are doing. Two out of three will not work, so don't go there. If you cannot answer "yes" to all three, then stop.'
The book ends with a number of stories of couples who loved each other--who lived out their reality of cleaving to one another--and the powerful impact that had on their whole lives.
I'm recommending this book. It's positive, thought-provoking and an easy read. It's going to save relationships.
